Andrew Squier
Andrew has an athletic, contemplative and compassionate style that is built on his study of Astanga Yoga and various forms of Vinyasa Yoga. He teaches a moderately paced, flowing class with a strong focus on alignment and form. With the understanding that all bodies move in unique ways, he explores variations and modifications to postures, looking for a sustainable yoga practice for everyone. He believes in a light hearted approach to life and yoga, and with a measured application of effort we can create positive change in our lives.
Andrew began his yoga practice in 2007 with Elliott McEldowney at O2 Yoga in Somerville and at Tufts University. He earned his 200 RYT in San Francisco at The Mindful Body (Class of 2013), under the guidance of Maile Sivert and Caroline Kelley. After teaching for three years in San Francisco (at The Mindful Body, Bernal Yoga, Maiden Lane Studios and Just Breathe Yoga SF), he spent a year teaching in his hometown of San Diego (Yoga One and Grotto Climbing and Yoga). Returning to the Boston area, Andrew has been teaching on the north shore (Purple Sun + Moon Yoga, Dark Star Yoga, Yoga Loft Marblehead, Yoga Sakti, Bright Day Yoga).
Andrew found yoga through a love of personal fitness, anatomy, and nutrition. After studying physical theater and dance, he spent time in New York City as an actor and movement director. He uses his substantial knowledge of anatomy and body mechanics to guide his students through asana and to give clear and supportive physical adjustments. Andrew strives to create a meditative environment that allows his students to delve deep within themselves.
